Jim Amtmann, President
He joined The Stanley Works as a Market Research Analyst in 1969. He joined the Hardware division, a manufacturer of consumer, OEM and architectural hardware products in 1970 and progressed through various marketing positions to become VP Marketing in 1978. He then was made VP Marketing of the Stanley Tools division, a manufacturer of mechanics and woodworking tools.
In 1983, he was promoted to EVP Engineering and Manufacturing of Stanley Home Automation, a manufacturer of garage door openers, gate operators and home automation lighting devices, and made President and General Manager in 1984. He was promoted to President and General Manager of the Mac Tools division, a manufacturer of mechanics tools, toolboxes and accessories in 1988. In 1992, he was promoted to corporate headquarters as VP Corporate Marketing Development (Chief Marketing Officer) and assumed the additional responsibility of founding the Customer Support Division as President and General Manager.
He was then recruited to become President, Chief Operating Officer and Director of First Alert, a provider of home safety products such as smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers.
In 1997, he joined Barracuda International Corporation, a subsidiary of Zodiac North American Pool Care Sector, a manufacturer of automatic pool cleaners, as President and Chief Executive Officer. He was then given the additional responsibility of President and CEO of Fountainhead Technologies, Inc., and then became President and CEO of Zodiac North American Pool Care Sector.
He was then recruited in 2000 to be President and General Manager of Tamor Corporation, a manufacturer of home storage products. Jim left Tamor to move into the new technology area.
He was Chairman and CEO of ValuEdge Inc. in 2000, a provider of management software delivered via an ASP, a web interchange and consulting firm. He remains on the advisory board.
He was CEO of Projexx, LLC, a provider of high technology retail imaging systems.
He was COO of PlantFind.com, the leading provider of Internet business-to-business e-commerce for the green industries of horticulture, floriculture and agriculture. PlantFind.com's products and services are designed to efficiently connect buyers and sellers suppliers and retailers by delivering an automated solution for the acquisitions, sales, and management of the goods and services. He concentrated on strategic direction, business development and managing operations.
He was the Executive Vice President of HomeWorks Media Group, Inc., the publisher of HomeWorks Sourcebooks. HomeWorks Sourcebooks are a series of regional home & garden resource guides targeting affluent homeowners. The guides profile dozens of the best pre-screened local contractors, retailers, and service providers and offer practical articles and advice from local professionals.
Finally, he is President and founder of Amtmann Group, a management consulting firm, and has consulted with many companies in various capacities. He is also CEO of Organizational Planning Advisors, LLC, a company providing strategic, business and financial assistance offering consulting, outsourcing and advising to for-profit and non-profit organizations.
He is a member of the New England 49er's (Affiliated with the World Presidents Organization), the CEO Place, The WPI Venture Forum, The Association for Corporate Growth, The Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.
He graduated from the University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Marketing major. He received his Master of Business Administration from the same university.
